Michael Freeman

Michael Freeman
Passed away July 15, 2008, at the age of 71, due to complications of pneumonia.
Beloved husband of Sue (nee Winter). Proud and loving father of 3 daughters and their husbands, Ellie (Jeff) Byrd of Burlingame, CA; Kathy (Daniel) Lederman of Burlingame, CA; and Gail (Louis) Feinstein of Baltimore, MD. Loving son of the late Jack and Liselott Freeman. Dear son-in-law of Elmer (Hope) and the late Nannette Winter. Dear brother of Thomas (Joan) Freeman of Pacific Palisades, CA and the late Jacqueline Freeman and brother-in-law to Lynn Winter Gross and Martha (Bob Tracy) Winter Gross. Proud grandfather of 10, who adored their “Papa Mike”. The family wishes to thank Mike’s special companion, Linda Merkel.
Michael attended the University of Michigan and Harvard Law School. He practiced law at Quarles, Herriott & Clemons, Manpower, Inc. (legal counsel), Michael, Best & Friedrich and as a solo practitioner. He served on the boards of Jewish Family Services and American Jewish Committee and also devoted many hours volunteering with the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and as a reading tutor in the Milwaukee Public Schools. His love of and devotion to his family always came first. He was also a talented and avid athlete. Mike bravely struggled with Parkinson’s for 8 years; even then, he was a true mensch by any definition, a compassionate, kind and genuine person, ready with a joke and always the gentleman.
Funeral services Thursday, July 17th at 4:00 PM at Congregation Sinai, 8223 N. Port Washington Rd., Fox Point. Burial to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, 166 S. Hawley Ct., Milwaukee.
Memorial contributions to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association or Jewish Family Services would be appreciated.
